Re-opening of the library

The Foundation’s library has reopened.

The library is open to the public from Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., by appointment only. There is free access to books and articles. For the image library and archives, please indicate the reason for your visit in advance to facilitate your research.

Archives / Schneebalg-Perelman Fund

In 2019, the Périer-D’Ieteren Foundation library acquired the archive fund that documents the research and relations of the art historian Sophie Schneebalg-Perelman (1914-1988). The Schneebalg-Perelman fund includes substantial documents for further research in tapestry and, more generally, for early modern art history. An inventory of these archives has been carried out and they are now accessible for consultation on request.

Publication / The Martyrdom of Saint Paul

The new volume of the Studia Bruxellæ journal, published by the Museums and Archives of the City of Brussels, focuses on the history and restoration of the tapestry cartoon of the Martyrdom of Saint Paul attributed to Pieter Coecke.

The book includes two contributions by Louise Longneaux (laureate of a doctoral grant from the Foundation in 2017) and an article by Catheline Périer-D’Ieteren.

Conference \ Borman and Sons in Context

The Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (Brussels) and Catheline Périer-D’Ieteren participated in the colloquium Borman and Sons in Context. Brabantine sculpture from 1460-1540, held at M – Museum Leuven on 27-29 November 2019. Together with Emmanuelle Mercier and Myriam Serck-Dewaide (KIK-IRPA), Catheline Périer presented the first work hypotheses about the Adoration of the Magi altarpiece in the San Nazaro Maggiore Basilica (Milan) in a communication titled The Adoration of the Magi in San Nazaro, Milan: an unknown work by Jan II Borman? In 2017, the Périer-D’Ieteren Foundation funded the first mission to study the artwork on site in Milan.
