Description
The Périer-D’Ieteren Foundation provided financial support for Oskar Rojewski’s book. This publication, the result of extensive research conducted during several postdoctoral fellowships in Spain and Belgium, sheds light on the career of Michel Sittow, a major 15th-century painter who worked at the court of Isabella of Castile and for the Habsburgs. Drawing on unpublished archives and detailed visual analyses, it makes an essential contribution to art history and to the understanding of artistic exchanges in Europe.
